The descaling symbol does not go out.

The program was aborted. Run the descaling program again. We recommend the Melitta® AntiCALC descaler. You will find it here. Mix the descaling solution as described in the instructions for the descaling agent. Only fill the water tank up to the 0.5 l mark. Then restart the program; the operating instructions can be found here.

The brewing unit cannot be reinserted after removing.

The drive may possibly not be in the correct position. Check whether the water tank is filled and the drip tray is inserted. Switch the appliance OFF and ON again and then press the "Coffee" direct key and the "2 cups" button simultaneously for longer than 2 seconds. The drive moves into position. Then reinsert the brewing unit and check that it is correctly locked.

How do I prepare milk froth

With the cappuccinatore, you can froth milk directly into the cup from the milk carton or from a vessel. Place a cup underneath the cappuccinatore and insert the hose into the milk. Press the button for steam dispensing. While the appliance is heating up, the steam symbol flashes; when it stops flashing, the appliance is ready. Open the valve switch by turning it clockwise up to the stop. When you have obtained the desired quantity of milk froth, turn the valve switch anticlockwise up to the stop in order to close the valve.

Which water quantity regulator position delivers which coffee quantity?

By turning the water quantity regulator, you can infinitely adjust the water quantity for your coffee between 30 ml and 220 ml. Turn the regulator to the left to obtain less coffee. Turn it to the right to increase the coffee quantity.

How much coffee powder is produced at the respective brewing strength?

1 bean -> approx. 7.5 g

2 beans -> approx. 9.5 g

3 beans -> approx. 11.5 g

After the grinding process, the coffee bean symbols on the display flash.

Too little or no coffee has been ground. Fill up the bean container with new coffee beans. Restart the brewing process.

The cleaning and/or descaling program cannot be started.

The request to fill up the water tank appears on the display although the water tank is full.

The water tank may possibly not be inserted correctly. Make sure that the water tank is engaged in the retainer at the rear.

How do I clean the outside of the appliance?

Please switch off the appliance. Clean the outside of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth and normal washing-up liquid. Do not use any abrasive cloths, sponges or cleaning agents. The drip tray and the coffee grounds container can also be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and washing-up liquid. We recommend using a soft, dry cloth for cleaning the bean container.

How do I clean the cappuccinatore?

First allow the cappuccinatore to cool down properly and wipe it down on the outside with a damp cloth. Pull the cappuccinatore off from the steam pipe and dismantle it into its individual parts. Clean all of the parts with warm water and then assemble the cappuccinatore again. Reconnect the cappuccinatore by pushing the connection up to the stop on the steam pipe and connecting the milk hose to the cappuccinatore.

A request to empty the drip tray appears on the display although I have only just emptied it.

The drip tray should only ever be emptied when the appliance is switched on. Emptying when the appliance is not switched on is not recognised by the appliance and can lead to incorrect messages. Pull out the drawer while the appliance is switched on and then reinsert it.

How can I set the brewing temperature?

Press the "Service" button for longer than 2 seconds to call up "Service mode 1". Now press the "Service" button repeatedly until the display for the brewing temperature function appears. Then press the "Brewing strength" button repeatedly until the desired brewing temperature is set. You can choose from low (1 coffee bean), medium (2 coffee beans) and high (3 coffee beans).

How do I set the grinding fineness?

To adjust the grinding fineness, open the cover on the right-hand side and prepare any coffee drink. Move the grinding fineness adjustment lever to the left with the grinder running in order to set a finer grinding fineness or to the right to set a coarser grinding fineness. Please note that the grinding fineness may only be adjusted when the grinder is running, as the grinder may otherwise be damaged. Then close the cover again.
