1. Unfold: the lowest zone, known as the "pre-brewing zone", takes care of the initial aroma development.
2. Refining: the middle zone supports even brewing and thus refines the aroma of your coffee.
3. Balancing:
the upper zone prevents a bitter taste forming and guarantees a balanced aroma.
What is the special feature of the Melitta® Natura filters?
Good for your coffee and the environment: Melitta® Natura filter papers are made from 40% fast-growing bamboo.
What is the difference between the natural brown and the white coffee filters?
A difference that you can see, but cannot taste, of course. The properties of both filters are fully identical. Natural brown coffee filters are not bleached, white coffee filters are bleached only with natural oxygen. All of our coffee filters are, of course, compostable.
What does "1x4®" mean on filters?
In the early days of filter paper, there were no coffee machines – coffee was brewed by hand back then. They had to pour water into the filter several times using the filter and filter paper sizes available at the time, i.e. 100, 102® etc. – depending on the number of cups required. You could only guess how much finished coffee would end up in the jug. Melitta® invented the "1x filter system" in the sixties. Depending on the size you choose, with these new filters and filter paper, only "1x" water had to be poured (i.e. 1x2 filters poured 1x = 2 cups of coffee, 1x4® filters poured 1x = 4 cups etc.) and the desired number of cups was achieved – a relief for coffee connoisseurs. For a long time, both the 100 and 1x sizes were available in parallel, as households still had filter bodies for both versions. Almost all appliances now work with "1x4®" filters because it is the optimum size for the quantity of water and coffee required, especially in the main segment of 8 to 10 cup appliances.
What filter size fits in my filter coffeemaker?
You will find information on the correct size of the filter paper in the instructions for use or on the filter holder on your coffeemaker. The right size is particularly important because there is otherwise a risk of tearing or the filter folding over.
Why do I fold filter paper before inserting?
For coffee preparation to work optimally, the filter paper needs to be folded in the exact shape of the filter. You do this by folding over the two embossed edges. The filter paper will then rest against the edge of the filter holder and sit deep in the filter insert. Thanks to this good fit, the filter paper cannot fold together during the brewing process.
Are the Melitta® filters glued?
Nein, die Melitta® Filtertüten® werden nicht geklebt, sondern ausschließlich gepresst.
What is AromaPorPLUS®?
Coffee oils are something else. They carry over 800 coffee aromas and ensure aroma variety in your coffee. The innovative AromaPorPLUS® system therefore specifically increases the through-flow of the fine coffee oils. AromaPorPLUS® ensures even more aroma variety and a very special taste experience. You will find them in our Melitta Gourmet® filters.
What is the Aromasoft® structure?
Mild coffee enjoyment for conscious connoisseurs. The Aromasoft® structure of our Melitta Gourmet® mild filters ensure this. How does that work? Caffeine and aromatics develop as early as the start of the brewing process while bitter substances are not released until later. The Aromasoft® structure allows a shorter brewing time so that a mild filter coffee with a flavoursome aroma is produced.
