Automatic coffeemaker - Passione® OT

General information

The brewing unit cannot be reinserted after removing.

The drive may possibly not be in the correct position. Check whether the water tank is filled and the drip tray is inserted. Switch the appliance OFF and ON again and then press the On /Off button and the brewing strength buttons simultaneously for longer than 2 seconds. The drive moves into position. Then reinsert the brewing unit and check that it is correctly locked.

A request to empty the drip tray appears on the display although I have only just emptied it.

The drip tray should only ever be emptied when the appliance is switched on. If you empty it while the appliance is switched off, this will not be recognised by the appliance sensor and can lead to error messages. Pull out the drawer while the appliance is switched on and then reinsert it.

How much coffee powder is produced at the respective brewing strength?

With the Passione® OT, the coffee powder quantity for the respective brewing strengths is 7 to 13 g. You can set the brewing strength in five stages.

Which water quantity regulator position delivers which coffee quantity?

By turning the water quantity regulator, you can infinitely adjust the water quantity for your coffee between 30 ml and 220 ml. Turn the regulator to the left to obtain less coffee. Turn it to the right to increase the coffee quantity.

After the grinding process, the coffee bean symbol appears on the display.

There are too few or hardly any coffee beans in the container. Fill up the bean container with new coffee beans. Restart the brewing process.

How do I clean the outside of the appliance?

Please switch off the appliance. Clean the outside of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth and normal washing-up liquid. Do not use any abrasive cloths, sponges or cleaning agents.

The drip tray and the coffee grounds container can also be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and washing-up liquid. We recommend using a soft, dry cloth for cleaning the bean container.

How do I clean the brewing unit?

The brewing unit can be cleaned under running water.

Why is no milk being sucked out of the milk container?

a) The ascending milk container tube may possibly not be connected properly to the lid. Check whether the ascending tube is connected properly to the lid.

b) The milk hose may possibly not be connected properly to the outlet and/or the milk container. Check whether the milk hose is connected properly to the outlet and the milk container.

How does Easy Cleaning work?

Easy Cleaning allows you to clean all milk system parts quickly and hygienically with hot water and steam after beverages are dispensed. This should be performed after each time milk is dispensed or can also be started separately via the menu.

How do I clean the milk unit?

First, remove the milk hose from the appliance and then pull the cover off the outlet towards the front. Push the milk unit downwards and remove it. You can dismantle the milk unit into its three individual parts and rinse it under the hot water tap. Use the enclosed cleaning brush, a soft, damp cloth and normal washing-up liquid for cleaning. The milk unit is reinserted in reverse order.

How do I set the grinding fineness?

To adjust the grinding fineness, first remove the water tank. The grinding fineness adjustment lever is visible on the housing. Move the lever to the left with the grinder running in order to set a finer grinding fineness or to the right to set a coarser grinding fineness. Please note that the grinding fineness may only be adjusted when the grinder is running, as the grinder may otherwise be damaged. Then, insert the water tank again.

What can I do if an error message appears on the display?

Take a look at the "Rectifying problems" chapter in the operating instructions. If you cannot get your machine to operate again with the notes provided there, contact our Service Centre by calling 0571 86 1900 (local rate). The hotline can be reached from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

The grinder makes a loud noise.

A foreign object may possibly be in the grinder. Please contact our hotline.

How do I clean the appliance on the outside and in general?

How do I call up the cleaning/descaling program?

Press the "menu / ok" button for at least 2 seconds so that the display switches to the menu. Select the "Care" menu option there. You can now choose from the various programs for descaling or cleaning.
