Which smartphones are supported by the Melitta® Connect app?
The Melitta® Connect app can be used on all Android smartphones with Android 4.3 and higher. Apple devices are supported as of the iPhone 5s with iOS 10 and higher. Bluetooth low-energy support is also mandatory.
Where can I download the Melitta® Connect app?
First, make sure that your smartphone is supported by the Melitta® Connect app. 50 MB (Android) or 70 MB (iOS) free memory space are needed for installation. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the iOS app store under "Melitta® Connect". In order to fully synchronise the app content, an existing and stable Internet connection is also required when the app is first started.
Can I also use the Melitta® Connect app with my tablet?
Although our app has been optimised for smartphones, it is also basically compatible with tablets and functions on them. To install the app on an iPad, the filter in the app store has to be switched from "iPad apps only" to "iPhone apps only". The Melitta® Connect app can then be found and installed on the iPad.
I have a problem with the Melitta® Connect app.
If you have a problem with the Melitta® Connect app, please make sure that the latest version of the app is installed. If the problem with the app persists, please contact our customer service. When describing the problem, please also state the following data: – Serial number of the automatic coffeemaker – Software version of the automatic coffeemaker (menu: Settings > Software version) – Smartphone manufacturer, model and operating system – App version (stated in the app's imprint) – Step-by-step description of how the problem occurred (with pictures if possible)
The smartphone cannot be paired with the automatic coffeemaker!
First, make sure that neither the smartphone nor the automatic coffeemaker is paired with another appliance. The Bluetooth connection must be established using the app, not via the smartphone's device settings. If you have already paired your smartphone using the device settings, please delete this pairing first and establish a connection via the app. In order to connect to the automatic coffeemaker, successful pairing (initial connection) must have taken place beforehand. Activate Bluetooth on your smartphone and make sure that you are connected to the Internet. Activate Bluetooth pairing in your automatic coffeemaker's menu under Bluetooth → Connect (60-second counter counts down). In the app, look for your automatic coffeemaker (serial number) under appliance connection and select it to connect. After this one-off pairing, the connection with the automatic coffeemaker then only has to be activated from the app. To do this, look for your automatic coffeemaker (serial number) again in the app under appliance connection and select it to connect. The smartphone must be in the reception range (around 5 to 10 metres) and Bluetooth must be activated. In the event of connection problems, delete all existing connections in the menu of your Barista Smart® under Settings → Bluetooth → Factory reset. If necessary, delete the pairing on your smartphone under Settings → Bluetooth → Select Barista serial number → Cancel/delete connection. Pairing and connection can now be carried out again.
I am having problems connecting my Android device to the Barista.
The following flyer describes possible solutions to frequent connection problems with Android devices: flyer
Why does location sharing have to be permitted to establish a connection using Android?
Location sharing is a requirement of the Android system for using Bluetooth. In addition to your permission, location sharing must also be set in your Android settings. However, no location data are recorded or stored.
Why can't I press the water filter button in the app's appliance settings?
The addressed button cannot be selected. The registration, exchange or removal of a water filter can only be carried out in the Barista Smart settings. Refer to the tutorials or the operating instructions for further information.
Why can't I find my Barista Smart in my mobile device's Bluetooth operating system settings?
Only the serial number of the Barista Smart is displayed in the Bluetooth operating system settings, not the name of the automatic coffeemaker.
Can I switch the appliance on using the app?
An existing Bluetooth connection is required so that the app can activate Barista Smart functions. Such a Bluetooth connection is not possible if the Barista Smart is switched off. Accordingly, the appliance cannot be switched on using the app.
What language does the app use?
The app offers the option of displaying the content in German, English, Dutch, French, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, Chinese and Korean. The app automatically selects the language that has been selected or set as the operating system language on the mobile device.
How do I disconnect my mobile device correctly from the Barista Smart?
Press the small coffeemaker symbol in the top right corner of the app. That lists the Barista you are connected to and allows you to press "Disconnect connection".
Why can't I change recipes offline?
For technical reasons, changing recipes is only possible while your mobile device and the Barista Smart are connected.
Can I connect two devices to the Barista Smart at the same time?
Coupling two mobile devices to the Barista Smart at the same time is not possible.
Is the app compatible with a smart watch?
We haven't yet published a specific app for smart watches.
How can the content of the Melitta® Connect app be displayed in Latvian/Lithuanian under iOS?
Latvian/Lithuanian are not offered as iPhone languages by Apple. However, apps and websites that support Latvian/Lithuanian can still be displayed in these languages. To do this, please navigate as follows: "Settings" --> "General" --> "Language & region". Select the item "Other languages" and add Latvian/Lithuanian. A note on using the selected languages follows. Please select "Give preference to Latvian/Lithuanian". The preferred language then appears in first place under the menu item "Preferred language sequence". Apps and websites always use the first supported language from this list. All of the mobile device's other content is displayed in the selected iPhone language.
Why is some of the app's content not displayed or only displayed in part?
Under Android, the majority of the content is immediately visible. However, content with a comparatively large file format (e.g. tutorials) takes longer to load; this content is therefore initially missing or an old status is displayed (when switching appliances). After selecting the country and appliance or after switching appliances, all app content is loaded in full under iOS before it becomes visible to you. The time taken for the loading process depends on the quality of your Internet connection. Therefore, please make sure you have a stable Internet connection.
Can my Barista Smart be controlled using Alexa, Google Home, Siri Shortcuts or other voice-controlled assistants?
You can control your Barista using Siri Shortcuts. Create a new shortcut command in the "Shortcuts" app on your iOS device and search for the Melitta® Connect app. Here, you can see all of the available Siri Shortcuts and create a shortcut command for your stored favourite recipe, for example.
The stored profiles have been deleted. A connection between the Barista Smart and mobile device is no longer possible. The appliance has automatically performed a factory reset.
Please contact our customer service directly.
What might be causing the app to crash?
Due to the variety of different mobile devices, providing generally applicable help is very difficult. Often, the app's crashing is the result of a full mobile terminal memory. Please close unused applications and empty the memory if necessary.
Why doesn't my Barista Smart have the Bluetooth symbols shown in the app?
The Bluetooth symbols were integrated with software version 0258-00 21 -008 Disp 0123.
What is the difference between the Barista Smart's individual Bluetooth symbols?
The symbol lights up white: the Bluetooth module is active. Pairing mode has not yet been started.
The symbol flashes blue: pairing mode has been started. The connection between the Barista Smart and a mobile device can be established within 60 seconds.
The symbol lights up blue: the connection has been established successfully.
The symbol lights up red: pairing has been carried out. The encryption between the Barista Smart and the Melitta® Connect app was not established correctly. This can result, for example, from the fact that the mobile device has been incorrectly connected to the Barista Smart using the Bluetooth system settings.
The symbol lights up yellow/orange (with iOS only): the encrypted connection has been disconnected, as the mobile device has not been used for a long time (approx. 60 seconds). The connection is restored by opening the Melitta® Connect app again.
