Automatic coffeemakers with water filters

What are the advantages of automatic coffeemakers with water filters?

A water filter for your automatic coffeemaker has several advantages: it ensures that the coffee tastes better, extends the service life of your appliance and saves frequent descaling.

✔ Better coffee flavour
Very hard water often has its own unpleasant taste that prevents the aromas of your coffee from developing properly. A water filter reliably removes flavour-changing particles that occur in the water – for maximum, unspoiled coffee enjoyment.

✔ Longer service life
Limescale deposits can impair the functions of your automatic coffeemaker and lead to corrosion damage. The deposited limescale impairs the heat transfer as it forms a kind of insulating layer. As a result, it takes longer to heat the water and energy efficiency is reduced. A water filter ensures that the limescale content of the water is reduced effectively and stubborn limescale deposits are not formed in the first place. In this way, we guarantee many years of enjoyment with your automatic coffeemaker.

✔ Less frequent descaling
In addition, using a water filter makes maintenance and care of your automatic coffeemaker easier. Since the filter reduces the limescale content of your water to a minimum, you will not need to descale your automatic coffeemaker so often. If you do not use a water filter, an interval of three to five weeks is recommended depending on how hard your tap water is. This can be reduced to a few times per year by using a filter. For some of our automatic coffeemakers, even descaling once per year is sufficient if you use the water filter.

Is a Melitta® automatic coffeemaker with water filter worth it for me?

Limescale forms in all households. Magnesium and calcium ions found in our tap water are responsible for this. When heated, they are deposited leaving a white residue on your appliances, including in your automatic coffeemaker. The harder the water, the more ions it contains and the faster limescale forms. This process cannot be prevented without water filters. It is therefore worthwhile using your Melitta® automatic coffeemaker with a water filter as you cannot influence the hardness of your tap water. In this way, limescale can be reduced in the long run as long as you change the water filter on a regular basis. We recommend changing it every two months or after 50 litres of filtered water whichever comes first.
